Tuition fees etc.

Q. I am having difficulty paying my tuition fees by the due date. Can the deadline be extended?
A. If you are unable to pay your tuition fees by the deadline due to special circumstances, you may be able to defer payment. Please submit a "Deferral Application" to the Student Affairs Department by the specified deadline.
Q. Do I still need to pay tuition fees while on leave?
A. You will be required to pay 120,000 yen per year as registration fee during your leave of absence.
Q. I would like to receive a scholarship. What types of scholarships are available?
A. Our university offers the following scholarships. Please contact the Student Affairs Department for details on how to apply, the duration of the scholarship, etc.

Regarding classes and exams

Q. I would like to miss class due to illness. Is there anything I need to do?
A. If you are absent for more than a week due to illness or injury, please submit an "Absence Notice" (attach a medical certificate or other certificate) to the Academic Affairs Department. However, submitting an absence notice does not necessarily mean that your attendance will be counted.
Q. In what cases does an official absence apply?
A. The cases in which official absences will be permitted are as follows. The procedures and required documents vary depending on the case, so please check with the Student Affairs Department or Career Guidance Office as soon as possible after the reason for absence occurs.

1 Job hunting or graduate school entrance exams
2 Participate in training (teaching practice, etc.)
3 Bereavement leave (number of days depends on the relationship)
4 Participation in off-campus events (prior consultation required)
5 Natural disasters, delays and cancellations of public transportation
6 When you have been diagnosed with or are suspected of having a legally designated infectious disease

 

In the cases of 1 to 3, you may add the number of days deemed necessary for the round trip.

Q. I have to miss a final exam. Can I take a make-up exam?
A. If you are unable to take the final exam for unavoidable reasons and would like to take a make-up exam, please be sure to contact the Academic Affairs Department before the exam begins and follow their instructions. To apply for a make-up exam, please affix a 1,000 yen exam fee stamp to the "Make-up Exam Application" and submit it to the Academic Affairs Department within 7 days of the subject (2 days prior to the exam for 3 only). The following are reasons for absence that you can apply to take a make-up exam.

Q. I forgot my student ID card for the final exam. What should I do?
A. A temporary student ID will be issued. Please attach a 200 yen fee sticker to the "Temporary Student ID Application" and submit it to the Student Affairs Department.

 

 

Student life

Q. I lost/found something, what should I do?
A. If you lose or find something, please report it to the Student Affairs Department. Lost items that have been reported are stored in a display case on the first floor of the Administration Building, so please ask to have them checked. If the owner is unknown, the item will be disposed of within six months.
Q. I would like to use a classroom. Do I need to go through any procedures?
A. If any on-campus organizations wish to use classrooms or other facilities for their activities, they must fill out a "Facility Use Request" form and submit it to the Student Affairs Department.
Q. I am thinking of dropping out (taking a leave of absence). What procedures do I need to go through?
A. To withdraw from school (take a leave of absence), you will need to meet with your advisor. After consulting with your advisor, please receive an explanation of the procedures required for withdrawal (take a leave of absence) from the Academic Affairs Department. In principle, the procedures must be completed before the start of each semester.
Q. I would like to use a commuter pass to commute to school. What should I do?
A. Please present your student ID and school commuter certificate and purchase the ticket at each transportation facility. The school commuter certificate will be issued by the Student Affairs Department. You can pick it up from the next day.
Q. I would like to use my own car to commute to school. What should I do?
A. You will need a parking permit to enter the campus. If you would like one, please apply to the Student Services Office within the designated period.
Q. I would like to issue a certificate. What procedures do I need to follow?
A. Please affix the fee stamp to the "Certificate Application" or "Certificate Application for Academic Ability" and submit it to the Academic Affairs Department or the Student Affairs Department. Please note that Japanese certificates will be received two days later, and English and academic ability certificates one week later, so please apply early. The types of certificates are as follows:

Career support

Q. Are there any career-related materials available on campus?
A. The Career Guidance Department on the second floor of the lecture building has many materials to support your career path, such as workbooks and reference books. You can also view job postings that have been received by the university and use the computers, so please make use of them.
Q. My job interview is on a weekday and overlaps with my classes. What should I do?
A. If you have to miss classes due to unavoidable circumstances such as a job interview, it will be treated as an official absence if you follow the prescribed procedures. Fill out the necessary information on the "Certificate of (Planned) Exam/Attendance" and "Application for Official Absence" and submit them to the Career Guidance Department within one week of the day of the absence. Please be sure to bring the "Certificate of (Planned) Exam/Attendance" with you on the day of the exam and get a certificate from the person in charge at the school where you are taking the exam. Q. I have received a job offer from a company. Is there any procedure I need to follow?
A. Please submit the "Notice of Offer of Employment" and "Job Hunting Report" to the Career Guidance Department.
Q. I have decided on a job (or further education). Is there any procedure I need to follow?
A. Please submit a "Career Guidance Notification" to the Career Guidance Department.

 

 

Study Abroad and International Exchange

Q. I am thinking about studying abroad. What are my options?
A.Our university's overseas study programs are as follows:

Mid-term study abroad program in Canada For four months from April to August, students will live in a dormitory at St. Paul's University College, University of Waterloo in Canada, learning about local culture and English.
Exchange student system Students study abroad at partner universities in China and South Korea for one or half year periods. Up to 30 credits earned at the university will be recognized as credits at our university.
Certified study abroad system If you wish to study abroad at a university other than one of our partner universities, we will give you permission to study abroad. If you are approved, your studies at the university will be recognized as credits for your studies at the university.

Q. Do I need to pay tuition fees (tuition and educational enhancement fees) to both Yamanashi Eiwa University and the university where I study?
A. For mid-term and certified study abroad, the university will waive all tuition fees. For exchange students, the university will waive half of the tuition fees and the university of the host country will waive all tuition fees.
Q.Are there any programs to go abroad other than studying abroad?
A. There are "Short-term Study Abroad in Asia I" (China), "Short-term Study Abroad in Asia II" (Korea), and "Overseas Internship" (Australia) that can be taken as part of a course. For more information, please contact the Student Affairs Department or the Academic Affairs Department.
Q.What are some ways to interact with international students?
A. Yamanashi Eiwa University has many international students, including from China and Korea. Try to interact with them through seminars, clubs, events, etc.
