Studies in Clinical Psychology at the Graduate Graduate school of Human Sciences Yamanashi Eiwa University University was established two years after Yamanashi Eiwa University opened, and has a history of over 20 years.
Since its establishment in March 2005, when it was accredited as a Type 1 designated graduate school for training clinical psychologists, the school has produced many clinical psychologists. Currently, one-third of the members of the Yamanashi Prefecture Clinical Psychologists Association, whose secretariat is located at the university, are graduates of the school, and the school is responsible for the field of clinical psychology in Yamanashi Prefecture in both name and reality.
Since April 2018, both the undergraduate and graduate programs have developed a curriculum for training licensed psychologists, a national qualification, and are producing qualified candidates every year. The pass rate for the licensed psychologist exam has been 100% for five consecutive years until 2025, and the pass rate for the clinical psychologist exam has also exceeded the national average every year.
In terms of employment, we have the advantage of being the only training institute for licensed psychologists and clinical psychologists in Yamanashi Prefecture, and most of our graduates find work as specialist clinical psychologists. Employment opportunities are diverse, including psychiatric hospitals in the prefecture, prefectural staff, school counselors, child consultation centers, child-rearing support workers, juvenile classification homes, and after-school day care centers. In order to train psychologists who can immediately play an active role in each psychological clinical field, our graduate school has established a system that allows students to experience a particularly wealth of clinical practice.
Graduate students are actually involved in cases at the Psychological Clinical Center, which is open to the local community, and receive individual supervision from teachers on all of their cases. They also undergo internships at psychiatric hospitals and educational sites (counseling room training at junior and senior high schools, overnight training at facilities for students who are not attending school, and training at the Prefectural Education Center). There is also a long-term course system for those who cannot study full-time due to childcare, work, or other circumstances.
Fuji from all parts of the campus, close to the scenic Fuefukigawa River and Ishiwa Onsen Hot Springs, and only an hour and a half from Shinjuku, our graduate school is located in the heart of Tokyo. In this fulfilling educational environment, Yamanashi Eiwa University welcomes everyone who aspires to become a licensed psychologist or clinical psychologist.
