Yamanashi Eiwa University is a university and graduate school with a curriculum for training certified psychologists, and a Type 1 designated graduate school for training clinical psychologists. Through its educational and research environment, supervising faculty, and other continuing learning opportunities, the university consistently produces students who pass the psychology qualification exam.
With many full-time faculty members, the school has a system in place to provide thorough instruction from the basics of research to clinical experiments and supervision. As the only graduate school in Yamanashi Prefecture that offers a curriculum for training licensed psychologists and clinical psychologists, the school's strengths are reflected in the abundance of internship sites and employment records. There are also extracurricular research groups on psychological tests such as the Rorschach test, object relations theory, in which faculty members also participate, reading of English papers, and independent study groups for clinical psychologist exam preparation, and there is a system in place that allows students to continue learning as special trainees after graduation, providing a solid support system.
Taking advantage of being the only designated graduate school in Yamanashi Prefecture, we collaborate with many institutions in the prefecture, including hospitals, junior and senior high schools, and support facilities. The practical training lasts more than 150 hours, and students learn about the characteristics of each institution and how to work as a clinical psychologist within them. In addition to the practical training, we also introduce opportunities to experience the field as volunteers.
Students who are assigned to cases at the university's Psychological Clinical Center or off-campus training can hone their clinical skills by receiving case supervision (clinical guidance) from faculty members with extensive clinical experience.
The biggest feature of this graduate school is that many of the faculty members are clinical psychologists who are active at the forefront of the field. There is also a solid research guidance system by basic psychology faculty. Furthermore, because the relationship between faculty and students is close, detailed individual guidance is provided for each clinical and research matter.
For use in schools, educational facilities, welfare and medical facilities, etc.
We develop highly specialized professionals who can play an active role in practical situations.
With the rapid diversification and borderlessness of information media and advances in technology, human culture is facing great new possibilities. At the same time, rapid progress and environmental changes are placing a heavy burden on mental activity, making "mental issues" increasingly important in various areas of society and education. In response to these societal demands, we focused particularly on mental issues, and in order to further deepen research into clinical psychology, we established the Yamanashi Eiwa University University Graduate Graduate school of Human Sciences Studies in Clinical Psychology (Master's Program) in April 2004.
The school aims to develop highly specialized professionals who can play an active role in schools, educational facilities, welfare and medical facilities, etc., and has put emphasis on the educational and clinical fields in its curriculum. At the same time, it also provides subjects necessary to meet the qualifications for taking the clinical psychologist certification exam.
