What makes the research interesting?◆ Applying theory to practice, and applying practice to theory ◆
Everything I've learned so far, the knowledge I've gained from books and papers—these form the foundation of my communication skills as a psychology professional and as a person. This knowledge is invaluable in my role as a university professor, when meeting clients as a counselor, and when interacting with participants in encounter groups (group work). I also conduct various research projects using theory-based communication methods. In particular, I focus on communication among caregivers working with young children, and on special adoption, a topic often misunderstood in society. My research aims to help families who have adopted children through special adoption communicate effectively with those around them. The experiences gained from these practices provide opportunities to develop new theories.
