To all former Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) scholarship recipients

Those who received scholarships from the Japan Student Services Organization during their time at university will begin repaying their scholarships from October.

Scholarships are to be repaid by direct debit, but every year there are some students who are unable to make the first withdrawal. If you are unable to make the first withdrawal, you may fall into arrears that may be difficult to get out of. To prevent this from happening, we have provided explanations and distributed materials on various occasions while you are a student, but we would like to remind you once again.

Has your refund been properly debited from your account?

Or have you received an invoice from the Japan Student Services Organization but have not yet paid it because you have not completed the direct debit procedure?

Please check again.

If you are having difficulty repaying your loan, please contact the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) consultation desk, as there are systems in place such as a grace period for repayment or a reduced repayment period. When consulting, be sure to provide your scholarship number. If you have already repaid your loan or have completed procedures such as submitting a student registration form or receiving a grace period for repayment, no special procedures are required.

Starting from the 2017 academic year, information on loans and repayments from each school has been published on the website of the Japan Student Services Organization. In addition, the repayments of scholarships from former scholarship recipients will be used to fund the next scholarship. Please be especially careful for the sake of future students.
