Yamanashi Prefecture is surrounded by rich nature and history, making it the perfect environment for learning and playing.

The old name of Yamanashi Prefecture was Kai no Kuni. Kai is derived from the word Kai (gorge), which means mountainous country. As the name suggests, Yamanashi Prefecture does not have a sea, but is surrounded by mountains of 2000 to 3000 meters. It is one of the prefectures blessed with a rich natural landscape, with views of Japan's highest mountain, Mt. Fuji, as well as the Southern Alps and the Yatsugatake mountain range. Kofu City is the prefectural capital city, which spreads out over the Kofu Basin in the center, and is the economic and commercial center of the prefecture. The campus is located on the eastern edge of Kofu City, and there are plenty of spots to enjoy on your days off, such as Isawa Onsen, Mitake Shosenkyo, where you can enjoy the beauty of the valley in every season, and Katsunuma, known for its fruit cultivation such as grapes and peaches, and wine. There are also many historical buildings related to Takeda Shingen, a famous warlord from the Sengoku period, and international students say that it is the perfect environment for studying!
